During our first ever True Style event, co-founders Laura Cermak and MollyKate Cline shared their vision for True Style with a lovely group of high school girls. We discussed personal style, and dived into why we believe in the importance of individuality through fashion. Snacks were enjoyed, and dreams were shared. With interactive activities and a Q&A session about what it's like to go to fashion school, 'A Taste of True Style' was considered a huge success by the girls, moms and founders.

A Taste of True Style
An intimate and "quarantine approved" gathering was the perfect opportunity to introduce the mission of True Style to fellow Virginia ladies over tea and snacks. With co-founder MollyKate calling in via Zoom, the girls were able to see her latest creations, discuss the current state of the fashion industry, and ultimately, share how we each play a unique role in adding beauty to the world. During this event, the True Style team got to further know Isabella Reilly, whom we are lucky to now have as a mentor for our future workshops and events.

Fabrics, Sewing, & Sustainability
The first event in our quarterly series, A Girl for All Seasons, took place at the Cermak home, complete with snacks and (of course) LaCroix!
Girls and moms from several different schools discussed what goes into defining our style, thinking about familiar characters from film, and showing that the lasting impact we make on others extends far beyond the clothes we wear. Our mentor, Isabella, taught us six principles of beauty from art appreciation and applied them to modern fashion. We finished the afternoon by making our very own mood boards!

A Girl for All Seasons: Winter
Taking place at St.John the Beloved Academy, we held a hands on fashion and sustainability workshop. Our creative director MollyKate gave a presentation 'A Designer's Take on Sustainable Fashion,' and taught the girls how both consumers and fashion designers can work together towards a more eco-friendly future. Following the presentation, TS leaders Laura and Isabella led the girls through hands on activities on how to figure out if fabrics are natural or synthetic. The girls walked away with printed resources and new found knowledge on how to become more sustainable shoppers.
Make-Up & Emotional Maturity

Following the presentation, TS leaders Laura and Isabella led the girls through hands on activities on how to figure out if fabrics are natural or synthetic. The girls walked away with printed resources and new found knowledge on how to become more sustainable shoppers.
During our March event, the girls learned makeup tips and tricks from professional beauty consultant and former missionary, Mackenzie Jardell. After the teaching, Laura and Isabella led a workshop on emotional intelligence, where girls talked through real-life dilemmas (work, friends, & more), and collectively brainstormed what the girl of strong character would do. This was a great opportunity to take lessons from mentors' experience and apply them to their own lives!
